Presented by Dr. Kim Murphy, Child Welfare Program Specialist U.S. Department of Health and Human Services/Administration for Children and Families/Children’s Bureau
Session Description: The Trafficking Victims Prevention and Protection Act of 2022 was signed into law on January 5, 2023. This reauthorized the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) and amended federal
requirements for child welfare agencies receiving this federal funding to require more communication and details when these agencies are reporting missing or abducted children to law enforcement and the National
Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). Participants in this session will review the already existing and new federal program requirements for reporting children involved with child welfare agencies
who go missing and/or are reported abducted.
